What To Do When You Have Very Limited Time To Build Your Online Business

When I wish my colleague Adam "Happy Thursday", he'd say...

"What's so happy about Thursday"?

Well, I would like to think that there is every reason to be happy on Thursdays. For one, it's only a day away from Friday.

Thursday's are also a creative work day for us here at Webpreneur Media. Phone calls have slowed down for the week, and it's time to put some creative work for clients.

This topic takes us to the topic many marketers are struggling with... especially if you are working a full time job and trying to build an online business.

I have 1 or 2 hours per day to work on my online business, what should I focus on mainly?

I work full time on my online business, but there was a time when I had a full time job and trying to build an online business. So, I understand the struggle.

Even though it took a while for me to actually do it myself when I started, the idea came soon enough before I threw in the towel and gave up the whole thing.

Here it is...

When we start a business online, the most important thing is for the business to create cash-flow.

Cash flow is important for any business, so I would advise that you focus on cash-flow generating activities for most of the time.

If cash-flow is not an issue for you then, focus on your long term goals, like branding yourself and creating a body of work that you can be proud of.

In most cases where people start online with Affiliate Marketing, cash flow is important.

So what are the cash flow generating activities?

Traffic and lead generation:

Traffic is the life-blood for any business. Spend more time on finding ways to drive traffic, daily and you'll see improvement in your cash flow.

Here are some sources:

Display advertising, PPC ads, Email Ads, Newsletter Advertising, Content promotion...etc.

Follow up and email marketing:

Communicate with your leads and keep them in the loop with everything that's going on in your business. What you are learning on a daily basis is valuable to them. Let them know what you have learned and help them with their journey.

Keep a close eye on your numbers/data

The traffic that you are generating is not cheap. Try to maximize on every click that is generated by improving on your website and contents. Always check your tracking and conversions to eliminate the unproductive sources.

Working on contacts and connections

I learned this the hard way. When I started my business, I used to burn the midnight oil and put in a lot of work all by myself. I could have taken some time in connecting with people in the industry and having them help me, but I didn't. Now, I make it a point to connect with colleagues in the industry and have them help me. Ask for help, you'll be surprised that leaders in any industry will be more than happy to help you.

Focus on these activities to see faster cash flow for your business.

Traffic and lead generation is the most important activity you can do for your business when you are starting out. 2 hours per day is sufficient to create cash flow for your online business.

I hope this helped!
